What FPS Do You Need for Valorant?
The answer depends entirely on your monitor.
60 FPS is the minimum for playable Valorant. Below 60 FPS, abilities and movement feel delayed.
144 FPS is the standard for serious ranked play. At 144 FPS on a 144Hz monitor, peeks and flicks feel noticeably sharper than at 60 FPS.
240 FPS is the competitive standard. Most tournament players target 240 FPS minimum on a 240Hz monitor. The input lag reduction from 144 to 240 FPS is measurable: roughly 4ms.
360 FPS is the top-end target. At this frame rate, the GPU is barely involved — the CPU and RAM speed are the only variables that matter.
Every GPU in the table above can achieve 144 FPS. Most can achieve 240 FPS. For 360 FPS you need a strong CPU (Ryzen 7 7800X3D or Core i9-14900K) alongside any tier-A GPU.
Why Is My Valorant FPS Lower Than Expected?
If your FPS is well below the table numbers above, one of these five things is the cause.
Multithreaded Rendering is off. This is the single biggest Valorant FPS setting. Find it under Settings → Video → Stats. Turning it off cuts FPS in half on any modern CPU. Confirm it is ON before changing anything else.
XMP or EXPO is not enabled in BIOS. If your DDR4 or DDR5 RAM runs at its default JEDEC speed (2133 MHz for DDR4), Valorant loses 15-25% FPS compared to rated speed. Enter BIOS on startup and enable the XMP profile for Intel systems or EXPO for AMD systems.
Windows power plan is set to Balanced. Balanced mode reduces CPU frequency between frames. Switch to High Performance in Windows Settings → Power and Sleep → Additional power settings.
A frame limiter is active. Check Valorant Settings → Video → Frame Rate Limit. Many players set this during testing and forget. Remove the cap entirely or set it 10% above your monitor refresh rate.
CPU is the bottleneck. Above 300 FPS, older CPUs (i7-9700K, Ryzen 5 3600) become the wall. GPU usage drops below 50% while CPU hits 100%. If this is happening, a CPU upgrade helps more than a GPU upgrade.

Is Your GPU Good Enough for Valorant?
Almost certainly yes. Valorant’s minimum GPU requirement is a GTX 1050 Ti. Any GPU released after 2019 runs Valorant above 60 FPS.
The question is not whether your GPU handles Valorant. The question is whether your CPU, RAM, and settings allow the GPU to feed your monitor’s refresh rate consistently.
